As defined in its first Statute in 1922, the university has always considered outreach as the academics’ responsibility to the community, and as an ethical and political commitment to the democratization of culture and knowledge. Due to its systematic and continuous work with civil society organizations, productive sectors and actors at different State levels, the university has become a driver of development for the region.

Our outreach activities, projects and programs tackle a wide range of societal issues, which are analyzed from different perspectives and disciplines, by working in teams, engaging into dialogue with the community, and critically thinking and examining public policies. Their integration with teaching and research activities is encouraged within the university’s governance and management structure; therefore, specific topics and themes are included in the curriculum and permeate the research agenda.

Training programs, vocational training courses, and cultural and artistic activities are just some outreach initiatives available on a continuous basis.
